On the 5th of this month, I dedicate 5 of my favourite books to you.
1. One Room of One’s Own by Virginia Woolf.
- Favourite. It’s cliche to say this, but this book has given me strength to believe, that I can always be more independent and creative, to have more freedom, to question more whys.
2. The Catcher in the Rye by J.D. Salinger.
- Sarcastic, hypocritical, rebellious, anti-social. Love this book because part of me is still a rebellious furious teenager.
3. The Actor’s Guide to Creating a Character by Damon DiMarco and William Esper.
- A very rewarding read, it has led and guarded me when I was going nowhere in performing.
4. The Book of Emma Reyes.
- 23 actual letters written to her friend. An easy read, yet it brought me into the child’s wonderful imagination.
5. Educated by Tara Westover.
- My recent favourite. A tough and painful read, took my emotion on a roller coaster The manipulation and the abusive events, brought tears to my eyes. It’s beautifully written, so powerful and courageous.
